Pattern Drafting: Dress Blocks
Create a set of standard pattern blocks to fit your measurements perfectly. A set of pattern blocks in your own size will allow you to flat pattern draft any design imaginable. This detailed course will work step by step on how to pattern draft a bodice, skirt and sleeve block to make up the basic dress foundation. Students will also test out their blocks by sewing samples for fitting and make any adjustments to patterns if necessary.
Studio is fully equipped with equipment and supplies. Student material list will be available at time of registration. Notes and pattern drafting paper will be provided for students. Pre-Requisite: Introduction to Sewing or prior basic sewing skills. Must know how to thread a machine. |
Techniques Covered:
- Body measurements and figure analysis.
- Introduction to pattern drafting by drafting a basic pattern set for personal use.
- Understanding elements of patterns and marking them appropriately.
- Creating muslins (fit samples) for each block. Learn how to fit and make necessary adjustments.
